Oast & Hook will hold its second quarterly Social Workers and Administrators Breakfast on February 13th at the Hilton Norfolk Airport. Registration beings at 8:00 a.m. and the presentation begins at 8:30 a.m. The breakfast is designed to be both a networking opportunity and an educational opportunity for area professionals who work with seniors, the disabled, and their families.
This quarter’s topic is Trust and Medicaid planning. Oast & Hook will describe the basics of a revocable living trust and the difference between wills and trusts. We will also discuss the basics of long-term care and Medicaid planning and discuss how a will or trust can affect Medicaid planning.
During our first breakfast, we reviewed powers of attorney and advance medical directives, and we described how they should be prepared and reviewed, and how they can affect an information provider. At future breakfasts, we will cover geriatric emergencies, vaccinations for the elderly, and available services for the disabled.
To register for this breakfast, please visit our website or phone Linda Gerber at Oast & Hook (Tel: 757-967-9704).
Oast & Hook is pleased to announce that attorney Angela Manz has been selected to serve on the Council of the Elder Law Section of the Virginia Bar Association. The purpose of the Virginia Bar Association’s Elder Law Section is to bring together VBA members who are dedicated to improving the quality of legal services provided to the elderly. Members of the Section Council have been instrumental in preparing an Elder Rights Conference, and they have been leading proponents of an effort to establish a legal hotline for the elderly in Virginia.
